An inspection is carried out only on the heated-up engine. The arrangement of the measuring probe is shown in fig. 1.50. If oil temperature in the transmission reaches 50 — 80 °C and the car was in the movement near

5 min., measurement of level of oil are conducted on the party of the probe with inscription "NOTES". If oil temperature in the transmission makes 30 — 50 °C and the car did not move, then to carry out measurement of level of oil on the party of the probe with the inscription "COLD" (fig. 1.51).

Install the car on the flat platform, slow down it the parking brake. Launch the engine, move the selector lever on all transfers, then transfer to situation "P". Measure oil level at the idling engine for what take out the probe, absolutely wipe it with the dense paper or rags which are not leaving pile insert the probe into the directing tube against the stop and take out it. Level of oil has to be between tags. At the insufficient level of oil urgently check serviceability of the transmission as in this case neither the dolivka, nor replacement of oil can guarantee its normal work.

PREVENTION After the long movement at a high speed, the heavy city traffic in hot weather or towages of the trailer measurement of level of oil in the transmission should be taken not earlier than in 30 min. after a stop when oil cools down.
