8.2.1. Removal and installation of a shaft of steering

Remove a wire from the negative plug of the rechargeable battery. Wait 10 minutes, then remove the safety cushion module (see. "Body"). Establish forward wheels in provision of the rectilinear movement. Turn off a nut of fastening of a steering wheel and remove it by means of a stripper, having marked its situation on the helmsman to a shaft. Release the protection cover on a body floor. Having turned out screws, remove both half of a facing casing of a shaft of steering. Remove the block of understeering switches. Separate the kontakty socket of the lock of ignition. Remove the protection cover of a shaft of steering. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the cardan hinge connecting a steering shaft to the rack mechanism. Turn off nuts of fastening of an arm of a pipe of a shaft of steering and remove a pipe with a steering shaft assembled.

You carry out installation as it should be, the return to removal, taking into account the following.

Before connection of the plug of the rechargeable battery be convinced that in salon there are no people — possibly operation of a safety cushion.

Make sure that length of a shaft And steering is in limits of 533 — 535 mm (fig. 6.2), otherwise replace a shaft.

Make sure that during the rectilinear movement of the car of a spoke of a steering wheel are located horizontally, and the speed of a steering wheel from average situation in both parties is identical.
