4.8.2. Removal and installation of a forward cover of the drive of the mechanism of gas distribution

Remove a pulley of a bent shaft. Remove an oil case, an oil receiver and the filter of the oil pump. Remove the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering. Remove a pulley of the drive of the pump of cooling liquid. Remove the generator. Establish a jack with a wooden lining for support of the engine or by means of roofing felts suspend the engine for brackets. Turn out a coupling bolt of a suspension bracket of the power unit on the right side. Then turn out bolts and take out a suspension bracket arm assembled from a motor compartment. Remove rubber pillows of a support from a suspension bracket arm. Turn out bolts of fastening and remove the right arm of a suspension bracket of the power unit (fig. 2.42) from the engine. Turn out and remove bolts of fastening of a cover of the drive of the mechanism of gas distribution. Remember or write down more correctly the provision of each bolt, especially if bolts of different length. Remove a forward cover of the drive from a sock of a bent shaft and take out it from a motor compartment. Take a sealing ring from the channel of lubricant and replace it new.

Remove the plug of the drive of the oil pump from a sock of a bent shaft. If it is possible, take out a spline from a groove of a bent shaft and keep it together with the plug of the drive of the oil pump.

At installation replace a cuff of a bent shaft. For this purpose take out an old cuff from a cover by means of the screw-driver with a flat sting. Establish a new cuff, having pressed it against the stop in a zaplechik by means of a tubular mandrel.

Make sure that the surfaces of interface of a cover of the drive of the mechanism of gas distribution and a case pure and dry. Establish a spline in a shponochny groove of a bent shaft. Combine a shponochny groove of the plug of the drive of the oil pump and a spline and put on the plug a sock of a bent shaft. Make sure that adjusting pins of a case are in the place, and establish a new sealing ring in a groove of the channel of lubricant. Apply a thin film of sealant on the interfaced surfaces of a cover of the drive of the mechanism of gas distribution and a case.

NOTE You do not apply sealant on a cover surface near the oil highway and a shponochny groove (the shooter in fig. 2.43).

If the head of the block of cylinders was not removed, then it is necessary to apply a sealant layer on the top surface of a cover of the drive of the mechanism of gas distribution. Combine the leading gear wheel of the oil pump and the plug of the drive and establish into place a gas distribution mechanism drive cover. Putting on a cover a sock of a bent shaft, you watch to damaging a cuff edge.

Establish into place bolts of fastening of a cover of the drive and tighten them the set moment. Establish three bolts with a diameter of 6 mm of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders to a cover of the drive of the mechanism of gas distribution and tighten them the set moment. Execute further assembly operations as it should be, the return to removal.
