4.1.1. Removal of the power unit

Disconnect wires from the rechargeable battery. Install the car on the elevator. Dump pressure in a power supply system for what remove the relay of turning on of the fuel pump, launch the engine and let's it work to a full stop. Merge liquid from the cooling system. Merge oil from the transmission.
If the engine is subject to dismantling, then merge oil from the engine and remove an oil filter. Remove a radiator together with branch pipes and the fan of the cooling system, having left a broad tank on the place.
Remove the generator and disconnect wires from a starter. Remove the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering and, without disconnecting hoses, suspend it in a motor compartment.
Remove forward wheels. Remove protective guards from under the car bottom. Remove a cowl. Remove the air filter. Disconnect a fuel-supply line and hoses of discharge of fuel from the fuel highway, previously having pressed them clips.

Muffle all openings to prevent hit of dirt in a power supply system. Disconnect a cable of management of a butterfly valve, separate electrosockets on the case of a butterfly valve, an inlet collector and auxiliary devices. Remove wires from a collector and a head of the block of cylinders. Disconnect vacuum hoses, branch pipes of the cooling system and all other hoses of ventilation from a collector and the corresponding valves. Remove arms of fastening of an inlet collector and remove a reception pipe of the muffler. Unclench collars of fastening and disconnect hoses of a heater and other hoses of the cooling system from the engine, previously having remembered or having written down their situation. On cars with the conditioner turn out bolts of fastening of the compressor and remove it from the engine, without disconnecting from it pipelines. Tie the compressor a wire to car body elements to avoid load of pipelines after removal of the engine. Separate electrosockets of the distributor, the coil of ignition and the block of power transistors. Exempt a bunch of wires from brackets of fastening and take wires aside from a head of the block of cylinders. Disconnect shaft of the drive of forward wheels and a cable of the drive of coupling from the transmission. Disconnect connecting draft, draft of the drive of gear shifting, the flexible roller of the drive of a speedometer and electric sockets from the transmission. Zastropite also raise the power unit. Disconnect fastenings of arms of a suspension bracket of the power unit (fig. 2.1).
Make sure that all electric wires and auxiliary units are disconnected from the engine before starting dismantle of the power unit.
Make sure that connecting draft and draft of the drive of gear shifting are reliably fixed not to damage them at removal of the power unit. Establish a transmission jack or the cargo cart under the power unit, lower and bring it out of the car.
This operation has to be carried out together with the assistant as there can be a need slightly to incline the power unit that it was not hooked for car body panels.
In need of a transmission detachment from the engine install the power unit on wooden whetstones or arrange on a workbench. Turn out bolts of fastening and remove a starter from the transmission. Make sure that the engine and the transmission are reliably fixed. Turn out bolts of fastening of the transmission to the engine, previously having remembered or having written down the provision of bolts and arms. Carefully separate the transmission from the engine. Make sure that the transmission does not freeze up on primary to a shaft. Whenever possible remove adjusting pins from the transmission and keep them.
