9.2.1. Replacement of brake shoes

You make replacement of brake shoes at the same time on both forward wheels. Establish blocks only the recommended brand. Lift a forward part of the car and put it on supports. Remove forward wheels, having noted their situation concerning naves.

Pump out the syringe a part of brake fluid from a tank. By means of the screw-driver slightly drown the piston in the support cylinder. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the lower finger of a support (fig. 7.5), holding a finger with other key. Turn a support up and take out brake shoes (fig. 7.6).

Before installation of new brake shoes check:

— technical condition and provision of a dustproof cuff of the piston of the cylinder;

— technical condition of the directing fingers and their protective covers (clear and grease the directing fingers if necessary);

— lack of leak of brake fluid;

— degree of wear of a brake disk and condition of its surface.

Move the piston as it is possible more deeply in the cylinder. Establish new brake shoes and put a support into place. Wrap the removed bolt of fastening of the lower finger of a support and tighten it the set moment. Execute the remained operations as it should be, the return to removal.

Several times press a brake pedal for installation of pistons in brake cylinders into position. Bring to norm the level of brake fluid in a tank.
