The device of the drive of camshafts of the SR20DE engine is shown in fig. 2.14.

For removal install the piston of the first cylinder in compression step VMT. Uncover a head of the block of cylinders. Uncover the gas distribution mechanism drive. Remove an oil filter. Turn out fixing bolts and nuts and remove a natyazhitel of a chain of the drive from a back part of a head of the block of cylinders. Remove a sealing ring and laying from a natyazhitel.

Turn out bolts of fastening and remove the top guide of a chain of the drive from the top part of a head of the block of cylinders (fig. 2.44). Turn out a pin bolt and take off a boot of a natyazhitel from a case of the engine (fig. 2.45). Turn out bolts of fastening and remove a forward guide of a chain of the drive of camshafts (

fig. 2.46). Turn out bolts of fastening of asterisks of camshafts, previously having blocked from rotation camshafts by means of the wrench established on lysk on the right side of each camshaft (fig. 2.47). Take out bolts of fastening of asterisks together with washers. Remove asterisks from the ends of camshafts. Remove a chain of the drive of camshafts from asterisks and take out from the block of cylinders of the engine. If necessary it is possible to remove an asterisk of a bent shaft.

NOTE Do not turn a bent shaft of the engine at the removed chain of the drive of camshafts.

Examine teeth of asterisks and camshafts. On them there should not be wear tracks and damages. Examine drive chain links: on rollers there should not be wear tracks or damages. Degree of wear of a chain is determined by existence of a big side gap.

Examine the directing chains: on them there should not be wear tracks or забоин from blows of a chain. Before installation be convinced that the bent shaft of the engine was established in situation at which the piston of the first cylinder is in compression step VMT, and establish a spline in a groove of a bent shaft. The Shponochny groove on cranked to a shaft has to be in situation "12 hours". Put on an asterisk a sock of a bent shaft (fig. 2.48). The chain of the drive of camshafts has three links differing on color from other links: one link is put on an asterisk of a bent shaft and two links are established on asterisks of camshafts (fig. 2.49).

On some models of the engine chain links which are put on asterisks of camshafts differ on color from a link which is established on an asterisk of a bent shaft.

Arrange the links differing on color from outer side; put on a chain an asterisk of a bent shaft, establishing the corresponding link against a tag of the initial adjustment of the mechanism of gas distribution which is on an asterisk (fig. 2.50). Turn asterisks of camshafts in situation at which tags of initial adjustment of the mechanism of gas distribution will be outside.

NOTE Asterisks of camshafts are interchanged.

Put on a chain asterisks of camshafts. Establish the chain links differing on color against tags of initial adjustment of the mechanism of gas distribution (fig. 2.51, 2.52). Establish pins (if they acted) in openings of camshafts and arrange asterisks so that their grooves coincided with adjusting pins. Make sure that the links of a chain differing on color are opposite to tags of initial adjustment of the mechanism of gas distribution which are located on asterisks. Otherwise remove a chain from an asterisk and improve mutual situation of tags and the chain links differing on color.

After the correct installation of tags insert bolts with washers of fastening of asterisks of camshafts and tighten bolts the set moment, blocking a wrench camshafts from rotation. Establish a forward guide of a chain on a case and tighten fastening bolts the set moment. Establish a boot of a natyazhitel of a chain and tighten a pin bolt the set moment.

Establish the top guide of a chain on the top part of a head of the block of cylinders and tighten fastening bolts the set moment.

Wring out the lever of release of pressure of a plunger of a natyazhitel, then press a plunger so that it entered the case (fig. 2.53). Hold a plunger in the pressed situation to enter a cracker and a core of a plunger into gearing.

Establish a new washer of a natyazhitel and a new sealing ring in a flute on the case of a natyazhitel. Establish into place a natyazhitel. You watch that the arrow was directed from a head of the block of cylinders (fig. 2.54) aside. Establish nuts with washers of fastening of a natyazhitel and tighten the set moment. After an inhaling of nuts the cracker automatically leaves gearing with a core and the plunger is released.

Execute further assembly operations as it should be, the return to removal.
