Dismantling and assembly of a starter do not represent complexity if you are guided by fig. 8.5. When checking technical condition of a starter the following knots and details are exposed to control: brush and collector knot, starter drive, traction relay, starter electric motor, reducer (in the presence).
At first examine brush and collector knot. Measure height of brushes and effort of their pressing to a collector by springs. If height of a brush is less than 7 mm or its mechanical damages are found, replace a brush. Brushes have to freely, move without jammings in brush holders. The direction of action of brush springs has to coincide with a brush holder axis. Check effort of a spring a dynamometer. Between a brush and a collector enclose a paper strip and delay a dynamometer a spring along a brush holder axis. The indication of a dynamometer at the moment when the strip of paper can be pulled out by easy effort, has to be within 13,2 — 25,0 N. At detection of the weakened spring replace it.
The surface of a collector has to be pure, equal and not have a considerable podgoraniye. In the presence on a collector of pollution and an insignificant podgoraniye wipe it with the rags moistened in gasoline. Smooth out strongly burned slightly collector sanding paper. Remove abrasive particles after cleaning, having blown a collector compressed air. If the podgoraniye in such a way is not eliminated or strong wear of a collector takes place, then pierce it on the lathe.
Check the traction relay for operation from tension of 7,8 Century.
The drive of a starter has to freely, without jammings to move on a shaft and to come back to a starting position a returnable spring. At the complicated movement of the drive clear an anchor shaft of dirt and oil engine. The axial side play of a shaft of an anchor has to be within (0,3±0,15) mm. The radial side play of a shaft in bearings has to be almost imperceptible. At a considerable radial side play of a shaft replace worn-out plugs in starter covers. Impregnate new plugs before installation in engine oil (SAE 30/40).
Examine an anchor and the stator regarding breaks and traces of a podgoraniye.
